Coronation Street cast: Who plays Jan? Who is Piotr Baumann?
ITV soap Coronation Street is airing its tough human trafficking story at the moment which sees a group of women being exploited via a nail salon in Weatherfield. Alina Pop (played by Ruxandra Porojnicu) is one of the young women being forced to work at the salon. But another key figure is Jan Lozinski (Piotr Baumann) who’s involved in the trafficking but his motivations remain something of a mystery.
Who is Piotr Baumann?
Piotr Baumann is a Polish actor who has a number of big television credits to his name.
Prior to Coronation Street, Baumann starred in BBC soap EastEnders as Konrad Topolski.
The star portrayed a deli store owner as well as the love interest for Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).

He also featured in Spies of Warsaw as Maxim Moscow, while film credits include Gypsy and Belonging.

WILL JAN LOZINSKI KILL EILEEN GRIMSHAW?
He can also sing and dance, doing voiceover work as well as play the drums.
Along with his acting skills, Baumann is an underwater cameraman and a diving instructor.
He’s previously worked in Australia, the UK, Asia and Africa.
CORONATION STREET CLAYTON FAMILY TREE
Baumann recently featured as a deep-sea diver in the Netflix documentary Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable.
In Coronation Street, Baumann’s character seems quite ambiguous and it’s unclear which side he’s on.
Most recently, Jan was seen dealing with Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) after he was beaten up by one of the human traffickers.
On top of that, it looks like Jan’s secret identity and links with the traffickers are going to be exposed soon.
Jan has been seeing Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), who has been getting suspicious about the builder for some time.
But Jan’s duplicitous dealings could come back to haunt him as the connections between the trafficking ring could be revealed in upcoming episodes.
Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod previously said of the storyline: “This is one of the biggest hidden scandals in the UK today.
“Our research has shown us that in many towns and cities across Britain, people are being forced to work against their will, living in extreme poverty and in fear for their safety, all so ruthless criminal gangs can get rich at their expense.
“We are keen to highlight that slavery hides in plain sight – the salon which does your nails for a too-good-to-be-true price, the car wash which valets your hatchback for half the going rate… these could all be staffed by people who are being coerced, threatened and exploited.”
He added to the Metro: “Yes, they might seem upbeat and friendly to talk to – but is there something darker and more tragic going on that we don’t stop to notice? If you’re getting a service for a price that seems unreal, ask yourself how that’s possible.”
Coronation Street continues on ITV tonight at 7.30pm & 8.30pm
