Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver apologises for 'resting b*tch face'

Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has apologised for her rather frosty natural expression, claiming that she has ‘resting bitch face’.

The actress, best known for playing Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap, spoke to Seann Walsh on his podcast What’s Upset You Now?, where she revealed that what people see doesn’t often reflect how she’s really feeling, but that she can’t help the expression on her face.

‘I’m really sorry if it offends you, but there’s not much I can do about that.

‘Sometimes I’ve caught sight of myself in a shop mirror and I’ve thought “Oh my Lord, I look miserable”. I’m quite happy and jolly inside.’

Sue, 59, has a lot to be jolly about, having just had what she has referred to as the happiest decade of her life.

‘My 50s have been the happiest decade of my life. I’m happy with me and where I am, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the next decade brings.

‘Then again, if it doesn’t bring anything, I’m just going to have to make something happen myself. Since doing I’m A Celeb, my eyes have been opened to all these new experiences. Now, I’m just thinking, “Right, what’s my next challenge?”‘

While Sue is enjoying life, character Eileen doesn’t have much to smile about.

She has recently been warned to keep friend Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) away from his boyfriend Laurence, and tonight she is set to discover why.

Eileen and Todd (Gareth Pierce) are horrified to hear that Laurence supposedly killed his wife by pushing her off a mountain.

They are even more disturbed when they realise that Laurence will soon be taking Sean for a romantic getaway to… You guessed it, the mountains!

As Eileen and Todd give Sean a stark warning, will he take heed of their words?
