Coronation Street tease first look at Kate Connor's exit as actress Faye Brookes celebrates filming her last ever episode
CORONATION Street teased the first look at Kate Connor's exit as actress Faye Brookes celebrated filming her last ever episode.
The ITV soap's official Instagram account shared a behind-the-scenes photo of the character's emotional exit earlier today.
In the snap, Faye is hugging her co-star Richard Hawley, who plays her on-screen dad Johnny Connor, in the Rovers Return where she filmed her final scene.
Jenny Bradley actress Sally Ann Matthews is also standing near by, beaming as she affectionately places one hand on Faye's shoulder.
The brunette beauty is holding onto a huge bouquet of flowers, with two gift bags resting on the set's bar.
The post was simply captioned: "What have you been up to this week?⠀
"Here's a little peek at what we've been doing in Weatherfield!"
Fans were emotional at the sneak peek photo, with one writing: "It's going to be hard to see Kate go."
Another added: "Goodbye Kate, I will miss you – gonna cry when she leaves."
Although Faye has spent her last day on the show's set, her character's exit won't be shown until Autumn.
The 31-year-old actress documented her final day on the cobbles on her Instagram Story, sharing snapshots of the day as well as re-posting tributes from her co-stars and well-wishers.
The star was greeted by fans outside of the Coronation Street studio as she arrived to film her final day, struggling with balloons as she grinned despite the rain.
She took the time to meet with fans, being pictured giving them a cuddle as they held umbrellas to battle the bad weather.
Faye also revealed that one of the gift's in shot in her Corrie leaving photo was a swanky present from Tiffany's, with the beauty captioning a picture of the bag: "My cast mates know me too well, thank you so much."
The star also filmed dozens of goodbye cards that she had received from the Corrie cast and crew before being pictured leaving The Ivy restaurant in Manchester to mark her last day on the show.
The actress looked sensational in a floating white chiffon dress, which she teamed with tan heels and a flower crown headband.
She had her long brown hair loose and wavy over her shoulders and was beaming despite the bittersweet occasion.
The actress announced her departure from Weatherfield back in April, tweeting at the time: "Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, but after four fabulous years in Weatherfield it's time for me to explore new opportunities, I've loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I'm off to pastures new."
Corrie bosses confirmed that they will leave the door open for Faye to return to the soap in the future.
They added in a statement: "Faye is a very talented actress who has put her all into the portrayal of Kate Connor for the past three and a half years, we wish her every success for the future."
