Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank in tears as he reunites with co-stars on soap set – The Sun

CORONATION Street's Daniel Brocklebank had an emotional reunion with his co-stars after returning to work for the first time in three months yesterday.

The actor – who plays Billy Mayhew in the popular ITV soap – shared a snap of himself back on set alongside Alison King (Carla Connor) after production was halted due to coronavirus in March.

He captioned the post: "First time I’ve been able to pop into work & the first time I’ve seen these beautiful faces in months!!! "I’m not going to lie, I may have shed a joyful tear or two. @coronationstreet"

Charlie De Memo, who plays Imran Habeeb, was thrilled to see his pal back at work and commented on the snap: "It was a joy seeing you darlin'. All too briefly but beers next week (at a distance) for sure ?"

Colson J Smith also flocked to the comment section and said: "What an incredible place to work ?"

The young actor, who recently has recently shed an impressive amount of weight during lockdown, was also back to the grind yesterday.

Taking to his Instagram stories he shared a picture of himself walking with the caption: "Went to work today. Was simply mint."

Some of our other Corrie favourites including Andy Whyment and Samia Longchambon are also back on set.

Andy, who plays Kirk Sutherland in the soap, shared a glimpse of what it's like working at the moment due to current social distancing rules.

Speaking to his front camera, he uploaded a video of the empty cobbles with his 389k followers and said: "Hello I just thought I'd do a little video from the street, obviously I'm back today.
"I've done one scene this morning, got three scenes this afternoon, it just feels so good to be back."

Samia Longchambon had enough time to take a stunning selfie in hair and make-up before she went off to film her scenes.

"Felt good being back in Maria’s ‘trim up north’ uniform yesterday… @coronationstreet (if only I could book myself in for a colour n cut ??‍♀️?) #backtowork #coronationstreet #maria #hairdresser," she captioned the snap.

Their return to work comes three months after ITV decided to suspend filming of both of their popular soaps due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In March drastic measures were taken to stop the spread of the deadly bug and the soap stars were told to not come into work from the 23rd March.

Over the past months in lockdown the soap has remained on air three times a week.

At the time, a spokesman told The Sun: "ITV has sadly taken the decision to suspend production of the soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale with effect from Monday 23 March.

"We’ve been doing our best to carry on filming, whilst adhering to the Government’s latest health guidelines, to ensure we’ve episodes of both soaps airing on ITV until at least the early summer.

"However, the health and well-being of the production teams, actors, crew and their families is of paramount importance to us and we now feel that the time has come to stop filming.

"We’d like to thank our viewers for their support and hope they continue to enjoy both soaps in the coming months."

Fans were upset by the news but praised ITV for its decision to protect stars.

One said: "Saddest news, but the smart thing to do. Guess I’ll be rationing my Corrie just like my food…"

Another added: "thank you so, so, so much for continuing on as long as you all could but the most important thing to us is everyone’s safety and well-being. very proud to support you guys and look forward to the episodes we will be getting during this awful time. take care of yourselves."

Someone else said: "Absolutely the right decision. Thank you for prioritising the safety of your cast and crew. Stay safe everyone."
