Corrie star returns to work for first time after testing positive for Covid
Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has been spotted for the first time since revealing that he tested positive for Covid-19.
The actor, who portrays David Platt, was pictured on Tuesday (January 18) leaving the set of the ITV soap in Manchester.
Jack, 34, revealed last week that he was forced to call into work sick after previously testing positive for the virus.
He stated at the time that he had no symptoms, and and was only compelled to take a test after he made a ‘weird’ discovery.
‘I have the ‘vid’ he said. ‘It caught me.
‘I don’t have any symptoms. Nothing. I was in the shower Monday morning and I can’t smell the shampoo and I go: “This is weird.”
‘Shower gel – nothing. It’s an FCUK box set, Hanni’s mum got me it for Christmas.
‘So I’m using that and I can’t smell it, but I’ve never used it before so I don’t know whether it’s just s**t or I can’t smell it.’
The 34-year-old explained that he subsequently cleaned his teeth, only to discover that he couldn’t taste any toothpaste or mouthwash either.
‘I just ring up work and go: “I can’t smell or taste,”‘ he added on Sofa Cinema Club podcast.
‘They’re like: “Right, do a lateral flow.” It says I’ve got it. Two lines, see you later.’
The soap star later confirmed that his taste returned.
Jack made his first appearance on Coronation Street in 2000, taking over the role of David Platt from previous actor Thomas Ormson.
He has been involved in a number of huge stories over the years, and is currently involved in another with co-star Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel Osborne, which show boss Iain MacLeod hinted will run for quite some time.
Daniel, who is a teacher at the local school, has found himself on the receiving end of David’s anger, after a number of incidents occurred involving troubled teen Max Turner.
