Death in Paradise: Ralf Little reveals the one scene bosses cut ‘It never happened!’
DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) will make his first appearance on Death In Paradise tomorrow night on BBC One as the detective arrives on the island of Saint Marie to tie up a few loose ends in a suicide case. However, he soon suspects foul play and decides to stick around to get to the bottom of it alongside the rest of the island police force.
During an appearance on The One Show, Ralf and co-star Shyko Amos, who plays Ruby Patterson, discussed the new series and what viewers can expect from Neville.
The actor confessed to one unusual way of preparing for his role and was disappointed when he never got to show off his hard work.
Ralf admitted he wanted to take BBC bosses by surprise by toning up in the gym and stunning the cast and crew with his new physique.
“You know when Daniel Craig came out of that first James Bond film and everyone went ‘Woah, no way!’” he told hosts Alex Jones and Matt Baker.

“So I was thinking there might be, I haven’t seen the script yet but that might be a thing you know, Neville is not the hunkiest, sexy, James Bond character,” he continued.
“But if I don’t tell anyone and I go hard at the gym so if there’s ever a moment if they go ‘Okay can we just have you coming out the sea’, on the day that we’re due to film, I’m gonna be jacked [sic].”
“That was my plan,” Ralf confessed: “Take my top off, [but] it never happened.”
Ralf confirmed he never got the opportunity to show off his toned physique and has now returned to his former self.
He remarked: “I was miserable in the gym and now because I’m skinny naturally, I lost it all.”
“Now I’m like a broom again, it’s so upsetting,” he added.
Discussing how his character is introduced to the island, Ralf explained Neville initially doesn’t plan on sticking around.
“He arrives to investigate what turns out to be a murder but originally he’s brought over just to sign off a pretty open-and-shut suicide case,” he said.

“It’s very elegantly set up to look like a suicide,” Ralf explained.
“He’s brought over because the victim’s from Manchester and he’s Manchester CID so it’s felt he has a duty of care to come over.
“He’s literally about to sign it off and there’s this one detail because he’s this brilliant detective.”
Once he decides there’s a murder to solve, Neville plans on leaving but is told by the Saint Marie team to stay and solve it with them.
