Over the last decade, BBC’s Death in Paradise has continued to grow in popularity exponentially. With a little while to wait for season 11 to arrive, fans should be excited to hear that star Jobert, who plays DS Florence Cassell, is teasing viewers with her next big project, as well as her dream role in the future.
After being absent from season nine, Jobert was thrilled that she was called back for the 10th season of the hit series.
She revealed to Hello! that she didn’t once hesitate to return to Death in Paradise as the cast and crew were like family.
The actress even admitted that after she bowed out at the end of season eight, she was convinced her job was done for good on the series.
Jobert expressed her surprise at being asked back but was over the moon to be slipping back into Cassell’s shoes, especially as it was the show’s tenth anniversary.
However, it was Jobert’s revelation that she is working on an exciting new project away from the series that is sure to thrill fans.
When asked about what is next for her career, the actress responded: “Maybe series 11 of Death in Paradise, we’ll see! If it happens, it happens.
“I’m just going to live day by day,” Jobert continued, admitting she was looking forward to spending time with her friends and family away from the camera.
Teasing the next big role, however, she added: “I’m writing something with my mother, a movie blockbuster – we’re dreaming big!”
However, Jobert was unable to provide any specifics on the project as the pair continue to put the work in.
In Death in Paradise, Jobert made quite an impression when she joined the series in season four.
Her character Sergeant Cassell was a member of the Honoré Police and she was later promoted to become Detective Sergeant.
Cassell is a fierce and determined woman who has risen through the ranks particularly quickly, considering that she is still so young.
Jobert’s character left the series after her fiancé was shot and killed in season eight, later returning in the season 10 premiere.
Whether or not Cassell will return in the newly renewed season 11 is still in doubt, especially given the character is still grieving and had a difficult 10th season.
So viewers should be happy to hear that she is now creating her own projects as they wait for the series to return.
The next series will welcome back leading man Ralf Little who’ll reprise the role of DI Neville Parker after taking over from Ardal O’Hanlon’s Jack Mooney.
Jobert also revealed to the publication that during COVID, returning to Guadalupe to film Death in Paradise was a “blessing”, adding that she felt “very, very lucky” to be able to escape from the madness for a bit.
The actress also joked that, outside of her role in the BBC drama, she has often thought of being a Bond girl in the future.
She detailed how fans often message her to say that she should be the next Bond girl, especially as her cousin actress Eva Green was once a Bond girl herself, portraying Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale.
Jobert frequently screenshots the messages sent to her and joked: “I have to keep them just in case I meet the casting director and I can say ‘Look at this!’”
Whether it’s Bond or her blockbuster film, Jobert clearly won’t be leaving audiences’ screens anytime soon.
All seasons of Death in Paradise are available now on BBC iPlayer.
