DOWNTON Abbey's Dan Stevens is set to play Prince Charles AND Phillip in a new royal spoof comedy taking on The Crown.

The actor – who is most well known for playing the role Matthew Crawley in the ITV period drama – is about to take on the role of the royal father and son duo in HBO's The Prince.

The new satirical animated comedy, produced by Family Guy creator Gary Janetti's, will follow a similar vibe to his Instagram account which mocks Prince George.

It will focus on a six-year-old Prince George, the son of Prince William and Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge, and will mock how the Royal Family live.

Back in April during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the American writer and producer released a trailer of the upcoming show on Instagram.

He wrote to his 946k followers: "The Prince coming to @hbomax."

Then in October he revealed that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner will be starring in the show as five-year-old Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.

He wrote on his social media platform: "Meet Charlotte – Sophie Turner @sophiet The Prince coming to @hbomax."

The Family Guy creator recently confirmed the Matthew Crawley actors position on the show on his Instagram Story with the caption: "I think you'll find our home a bit nicer than Downton Abbey, Dan."

There are a number of other famous faces that Sophie and Dan will be joined by on the show.

Janetti will be the voice of Prince George, GOT legend Iwan Rheon will be the voice of Prince William and Lord of The Rings actor Orlando Bloom will be the voice of Prince Harry.

Lucy Punch is set to be the voice of the Duchess of Cambridge, theatre actress Condola Rashad is playing Megan Markle and Frances De La Tour will be Queen Elizabeth.
