Is Chelsea returning to Eastenders?

Denise will be shocked out of her skin when her eldest daughter Chelsea shows up in Walford, 10 years after she departed from the Square.

It’s not yet clear why Chelsea is returning to Walford and whether her comeback is in some way linked to her dad Lucas’ return.

But filming pictures show Chelsea reuniting with her dad on location before he’s attacked by a henchman paid by Phil.

Having heard about Denise’s son Raymond being back in her life, Lucas will want to play happy families.

But Phil will have none of it and try and warn Lucas off.

Might Chelsea be about to side with her dad against his enemies?

Speaking about Chelsea’s return, the soap's Executive Producer Jon Sen teased: "When Chelsea was around, trouble was never far away and that is as true as ever when she returns to Walford later this year.

"We are excited that fans are going to see Chelsea back on their screens and thrilled that the wonderful Zaraah is going to play her."

Why did Chelsea leave Eastenders?

Chelsea fled the Square in 2010 in the wake of her dad’s killing spree.

Preacher turned murderer Lucas killed five people in the Square including his ex-wife Trina and Denise’s ex-husband Owen, before framing Denise for his crimes and locking her in a basement for months.

After Denise managed to escape and expose him, Chelsea was so ashamed by her dad's crimes that she left to live with her grandmother – and hasn’t been seen in Walford since.

During her time in the Square, Chelsea was involved in a number of dramatic storylines from a fling with Grant Mitchell to a brief encounter with Jack Branning.

Who will play Chelsea in EastEnders?

Chelsea was originally played by actress Tiana Benjamin.

But the role has been recast ahead of the character’s return, with former Corrie and Waterloo Road star Zaraah Abrahams now portraying Chelsea.

Alongside Corrie and Waterloo Road, actress Zaraah has also starred in Spike Lee’s Da Sweet Blood of Jesus as well as a number of dramas including HBO’s The Knick.

The star has spoken out about her excitement to be taking on the role.

She revealed: "I am so excited to be joining such an iconic show and I am really looking forward to taking on the role of Chelsea Fox."
