EastEnders fans notice ‘plot hole’ in Martin Fowler’s ‘cheating’ plan

EastEnders fans weren't happy during the recent visit to Albert Square.

Last night viewers saw Martin Fowler end his relationship with Stacey as part of a plan to protect his wife and children.

The fruit and veg seller is currently being blackmailed by Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) who's vowed to kill Stacey, Lily, Arthur and Hope if they returned to Walford.

Martin lied to Stacey during Monday's episode and said that he'd cheated on her with his ex-wife Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy).

Fans were left baffled as to why Stacey would stay away from the square instead of confronting Sonia.

Viewers took to their keyboards to rant about the latest storyline.

One viewer tweeted: "Why would Martin 'cheating' on Stacey stop her from returning to the Square?"

Another added: "I really don’t get why Martin thinks Stacey won’t come back because he divorced her. Literally she is more likely to come back."

A third penned: "Why would Martin sleeping with Sonia keep stacey away. Absolute rubbish story to write stacey out for awhile."

Stacey's mum Jean Slater confronted Martin in tonight's episode.
