Jacqueline will be reprising her role as Lauren Branning for the first time since 2018 when her sister Abi Branning tragically died after the girls fell off a roof.

The TV star went on to appear on – and win – I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! the year after she left and then focused on her range with InTheStyle.

She hadn't shared any plans to return to the soap immediately, but following the death of June Brown, she is one of the characters who will be coming back to pay their respects.

June was Lauren's on-screen grandmother and the pair worked together on the soap for eight years.

After it was revealed that Jacqueline would be one of the many stars set to return, she issued a message to her followers as she posted a selfie on her story.

She wrote: "I see all your lovely messages, I don't know what I am allowed to say so I'm saying nothing, but I love yous xx."

Jacqueline followed the story with a photo of June Brown as Dot Branning as she wrote "iconic" beside the photo.

It came as the EastEnders Instagram page shared the snap of June and wrote: "Some of Walford's classic characters will make a moving return to Albert Square to pay their last respects to Dot Branning this winter.

"Old friends including Colin Russell, Barry Clark, George 'Lofty' Holloway, Mary 'the punk' Smith and Disa O'Brien will join Dot's step-granddaughter Lauren Branning to say goodbye.

"The returning cast are currently filming scenes which will bring viewers up to date with their lives, as they share their cherished memories of Dot."

The soap account added: "For the actors, it's also a chance to honour their beloved co-star June Brown, who passed away aged 95 in April this year."

June left the soap in 2020 after slowly appearing on-screen less frequently after gradually losing her eyesight.

The exact date of Dot's funeral is yet to be revealed, but it's likely to be an emotional one as fans and cast say goodbye to both Dot Branning and the legendary June Brown.
