EastEnders star Natalie jokes she'll get her 'trumpet out' after filming axed
EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy joked she will ‘get her trumpet out’ as production for the soap has been halted because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The BBC soap was forced to shut down production amid the global Coronavirus pandemic, meaning that there’s a possibility that EastEnders will be temporarily removed from our screens.
The actress, who plays Sonia Fowler in the hit soap took to Twitter following the news to try and make light of the situation.
She tweeted: ‘I shall get my trumpet out at some point and entertain myself.’
Fans also saw the funny side as one quickly responded: ‘Can I be a backing dancer/singer? Pretty please.’
Another added: ‘Love that can’t wait.’
A third commented: ‘PLEASE. I want daily videos.’
And for those of you that don’t know you can find some iconic moments from Natalie’s earlier stint as Sonia, where she was always accompanied by her trusty trumpet.
A statement from a BBC spokesperson explained: ‘In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice. The decision was made after the latest government update.
‘We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England. We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible.’
Episodes will now air Mondays at 8pm and Tuesday at 7:30pm with immediate effect.
