Emmerdale spoilers: Robert Sugden dumps Aaron in savage twist as exit plan revealed?
Emmerdale viewers were upset to learn Robert Sugden (played by Ryan Hawley) would be departing the village this year and in recent weeks his exit storyline started.
In this week’s episodes, Robert was arrested for his violent outburst towards Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie), and the outcome was not positive as the possibility of facing life in prison for grievous bodily harm against the rapist is almost certain.
With his freedom ripped away from him, Robert knows he will not survive life behind bars, and he is quietly panicking about destroying the life he and husband Aaron Dingle’s (Danny Miller) have built together.
However, the businessman has two options; to face the consequences or run away.
Having seen first hand what time in prison can do to a man, Robert is reluctant to put himself, his family and husband through this.
Fans of Emmerdale will know how Robert helped his brother Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) escape after he was framed and convicted of shooting Lawrence White (John Bowe).
And as far as viewers are aware, life as a fugitive for Andy seems to be going well, therefore there is a chance Robert will join him.
In upcoming scenes, Robert is going to have to weigh up his choices and decide what is best for his family; to either spend the rest of their lives visiting him prison, cut them off entirely, or leave the village with his sanity in tact.
Should Robert leave and join Andy, where will this leave Aaron?
‘Robron’ have not had the easiest road to love and many soap fans were hoping for a happy ending this year with them having a baby via a surrogate.

But all future plans are put on hold as Robert decides what to do about the impending court case.
Will he be strong enough to say goodbye to Aaron, his family and friends and leave the village to start a new life on the run with Andy?
While a comeback from the actor who plays Andy is highly unlikely, he could return in the form of a phone call made by Robert discussing his options.
Going on the run has been a success for several other Emmerdale residents; Adam Barton (Adam Thomas), Kirin Kotecha (Adam Fielding), Declan Macey (Jason Merrells) and even Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) who recently returned from Belfast.
What will Robert do?
They all made similar decisions to flee after the crimes they may or may not have committed left them without any other option, so the same could be done for Robert.
With Robert leaving, there could be a familiar face returning.
Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was last seen on screen almost a year ago after he was told to leave following Kim Tate (Claire King) issuing an order for his death.
But in a scene which concluded this week’s episodes, Kim made a phone call to a business associate.
With fans desperate for Joe to come back, will he be Kim’s new parter in a revenge twist?
Emmerdale airs weekday evenings at 7pm on ITV.
