Emmerdale's Charley Webb hits back at trolls who criticise her parenting skills
Emmerdale actress Charley Webb — aka Debbie Dingle — has spoken about how she feels towards those who criticise her parenting skills on social media.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Charley mentioned how she finds it ‘bizarre’ that social media users feel as if they have the right to comment on how she raises her kids. She said: ‘Mainly I just block it out. I’m not really interested in what anyone else thinks. Everyone parents differently.’
‘If you’re in the public eye people think they’ve got a right to say things to you. They don’t!’ These people comment just to get a response. I find that so bizarre and I don’t respond. I don’t think anyone’s life is perfect but we’re all just doing our best as parents.’
Charley recently welcomed her third child with co-star Mathhew Wolfenden — who plays David Metcalfe in the ITV soap — and is also mum to Buster, 9, and Bowie, 3.
She continued: “Matthew and I are big on routines, but I won’t judge parents who aren’t’.
In addition to how she feels about the internet trolls, Charley last spoke about the pressures put on parents, and how it’s important for both mums and dads to not be so hard on themselves.
She said: ‘Every parent feels that pressure. No human can do everything, male or female. It’s really hard. You feel like you should be doing it all and if you’re not, you feel like you’ve failed. We all need to give ourselves a break.’
Charley recently shared a short video on Instagram of her son Buster singing a duet with actress Katie Hill — who plays her on-screen daughter Sarah in Emmerdale.
Meanwhile, Charley is currently on maternity leave, which means that Debbie has been written out of the soap for the time being, with the character tending to a new business venture in Scotland.
