Ex-EastEnders star Melissa Suffield engaged nine years after being axed

Melissa Suffield is engaged to boyfriend Robert Brendan.

The ex-EastEnders star – who played Lucy Beale on the BBC soap for six years – confirmed the news on social media, showing off her whopper of an engagement ring.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a snap of herself and her new fiancée, telling her 8,236 followers: ‘#ISaidYaass.’

And, right on cue, fans rushed to congratulate the 26-year-old on her happy news.

‘Oh wow, so pleased for you! Congratulations,’ one posted.

‘Oh my god suchhh incredible news. HUGE congrats to you both! Xx (sic),’ another said.

While a follower added: ‘Woohoo hoooo! Amazing news. So happy for you xxxx.’

Melissa has been in a relationship with cruise director Robert for nearly a decade, with the pair sharing loved-up snaps of one another all over their Instagram pages.

They even have matching tattoos of the rose from Disney’s Beauty And The Beast, confirming they are all kinds of couple goals.

Melissa first came to fame way back in 2004, joining the Beale family as Ian’s wayward daughter, Lucy, aged 11.

She was on the soap for six years, before being axed for her off-screen antics, allegedly ignoring warnings from soap bosses over her ‘unruly behaviour’.

But, speaking of her exit, the actress branded the situation unfair,

‘It’s not like I was going out, punching photographers and being sick in a gutter,’ she said at the time. ‘I’m only doing what every other girl of 17 does.

‘It’s not an excuse, but out of all the things Lucy has done, the only one I’ve done is drink underage.’

She was eventually replaced by Hetti Bywater, in 2012, before the character was axed three years later, in the huge ‘who killed Lucy’ plot.
