Game of Thrones: The real reason Jaime Lannister left Brienne for Cersei revealed

In the season eight episode of Game of Thrones titled The Last of the Starks, Jaime Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) spends the night with Brinne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) despite having been in a relationship with his twin sister Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) since the series began. However, the recently released script from the episode seems to have revealed why he left so fast.

The scene between Jaime and Brienne proved confusing for fans as it seemed to suggest that Jaime slept with Brienne knowing full well that he would return to his sister.

However, according to Insider, the script revealed a part that fans of the TV series would have missed.

In the final episode that aired on HBO, the love scene featured a shot of Brienne fast asleep as Jaime lay awake before hitting the road.

However, episode’s script featured a description of what was really going on inside Jaime’s head at this point.

The text reads: “Brienne sleeps the sleep of the happily drunk and devirginized.

“Jaime can’t sleep, however. He just helped save the world. So why does he feel like a traitor?

“Drunk and divirginized” aside (eurgh), the directions suggest that Jaime realises in that moment that his loyalties are with Cersei and he cannot let her die alone.”

Therefore, Jaime left because he realised his loyalties lied with Cersei afterall.

Moreover, Jaime felt like a “traitor” for the whole affair.

Fans of the series will know that the siblings died together in the final scenes.

This left fans with mixed emotions as despite the pair always being villainous, their death came just as they had reunited for a future together.

Nonetheless, it seems this was the showrunners’ plan all along.

Meanwhile, the only scene from the disastrous scrapped pilot that made it into the cut has been revealed.

Despite almost the whole pilot episode being reshot after it proved to be a disaster with HBO bosses, the only scene to make it in was one of Tyrion Lannister (played by Peter Dinklage) in a brothel.

The scene showed a blonde Tyrion spending time with sex worker named Ros (Esmé Bianco) as the Lannisters searched for him, annoyed at his absence.

Almost ten years after the scene aired, Ros star Esmé Bianco has spoken out about featuring in the only scene that wasn’t axed from the final pilot episode.

“I didn’t have a name at that point. And I was only meant to do this one scene with [Tyrion].

“They reshot almost the entire pilot with the exception of my scene with Peter [Dinklage].”

Moreover, the star revealed that it was Game of Thrones author George R.R Martin’s idea to give her character a name.
