Gaz Beadle delayed wedding to care for sick daughter but says relationship with Emma McVey is ‘stronger’ than ever – The Sun
BED-hopping, heavy drinking and constant partying was all Gaz Beadle lived for at the height of his Geordie Shore fame.
Fast-forward five years and the reality TV star, 31, has given up his wild lifestyle to stay at home and look after two kids.
Despite admitting he never imagined growing tired of his old life, Gaz says he's happier than ever being a proud hands-on dad to Chester, two, and three-month-old Primrose – and engaged to the girl of his dreams.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun Online's Big Interview, Gaz said: "Being in Geordie Shore was like being a Fresher at university, you can't live that way forever.
"I was getting bored of that lifestyle. Having kids gave me a new lease of life, a new purpose.
"Now I'm in the next chapter of my life and it's worlds apart.
"You get excited about different things like going to a farm with my little boy Chester or being able to stay home with the baby all day.
"Never in a million years did I think I would say that. Five years ago I would have said I would party forever."
Leaving behind his single life hasn't come without its challenges though.
He's been forced to delay planning his wedding to Emma McVey after the couple faced every parents' worst nightmare when their daughter Primrose got sick.
She has been in and out of hospital since she was born in December 2019 as doctors struggled to work out why she was suffering from stomach issues.
Sleepless nights and hospital stays while juggling work and two kids was a big test for his relationship.
But despite their struggles, Gaz says they're "stronger" than ever after facing everything as a team – but it's meant they've had to put wedding plans on the back burner.
Gaz said: "The last three or four months it's been so hard to even think about the wedding.
"Having kids is a massive test. I think it's important to have kids before you get married because getting married is easy, it's just a label.
"You hear a lot of people break up in the year after having kids. You're sleep deprived and it's totally brand new, it's really hard.
"But if anything it's made us stronger."
Now Primrose is fully recovered, the couple will start to think ahead about their 2022 wedding.
"We want to get married abroad, we know that," said Gaz.
"Haven't got a clue where though because we've been so busy we haven't even thought where yet.
"We'd have to wait until Primrose was about two and a half, I don't want a baby at the wedding. I want them to be talking and know what's going on."
And will his Geordie Shore co-stars be invited?
"No, our wedding would be abroad and quite small," admits Gaz.
"I'm not someone for a big church wedding.
"I want to go somewhere nice with our family and have about seven really close friends each."
After leaving Geordie Shore in 2017, Gaz is now starring in MTV's Geordie OGs that follows the original castmembers in their new lives.
It's just returned for its second series starring Holly Hagan, Marnie Simpson, Aaron Chalmers and Sophie Kasaei – but Gaz's ex Charlotte Crosby is yet to sign up.
"It would have literally no impact on me, whatsoever if she did," Gaz said.
"It was five years ago. I have two kids now. It's got nothing to do with me to be honest.
"She would be filming her life and I would be filming my life, it would just be another life for MTV to film.
"I don't mind if she does or she doesn't. It literally doesn't bother me at all."
Instead the OGs spin-off shows Gaz as a family-man staying home with the kids.
"It's nice to show how I've changed," said Gaz.
"It's not a bad thing to settle down. F***ing hell, enjoy your kids over going out!"
He added: "I'm a pretty hands-on dad.
"I'm home all the time because I work from there so I'm here for them all the time.
"Me and Emma take turns to do overnight feeds. I know how hard it is for people who have kids full-time because I see it.
"I'm not going to sit back and make Emma do everything. That's not fair. It's nice we both juggle. You've got to be a good team to make it work.
"One of the hardest things about this new chapter is that life has always been about me.
"From me to go from that to third in line now, is such a difference. It is hard, but you've got to have someone really good with you.
"If we can get through two kids and juggle that, then we're a good team."
Asked if she's The One, added: "We've got two amazing kids, we're flying so I don't see why not."
- Tune into Geordie OGs on Wednesdays at 9pm on MTV.
