Grand Designs' stunning converted engine house hits the market for eye-watering sum
A STUNNING five-story home that featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs has gone on the market for £750,000.
The Grade II listed property – named Wheal Langford House – is set on the edge of the Tamar Valley within the sprawling 3.7 acres that make the most of the countryside views.
Stonemason Adam Purchase and his partner Nicola Brennan featured on the hit Channel 4 series back in September 2008.
They planned to convert the 19th-century engine house within 12 months, however, as is often the case with Grand Designs, they ran out of money.
They started in 2008 and host Kevin McCloud caught up with them in 2011, when he said the exterior was a "testament to Adam's skill and dedication".
The remote property has a second derelict engine house – which the couple planned to convert to a holiday let – that still has live planning permission.

Wheal Langford mine is believed to have been open before 1824 – predominantly for silver – and was amalgamated with Cornwall Silver Mines in 1835.
The now-converted home has a bedroom and bathroom on four floors, as well as an entrance hall and family room on the ground floor.
The top two floors house the sitting room and the master bedroom, with an en suite, to enjoy the best views of the surrounding landscape.
The eco-friendly property has a biomass boiler to supply hot water and central heating to the main residence, which is powerful enough to also provide heating and hot water to the second engine house once converted.
There are also solar panels in the paddock which provide an income of about £1,800 a year.

Dominic Skerry, from Lillicrap Chilcott, who are selling the property, said: "Wheal Langford has been brought back to life by the dedication and hard work of the owners.
"The main engine house is almost finished, but the new owners have the potential to complete the second Grade II Listed engine house which is adjacent for use as a holiday home to generate an income.
"There is plenty of space to have a large allotment, keep livestock, and generally be more self-sufficient."
