Hannah Brown wins Dancing With The Stars 2019 after stunning finale sees her and Alan Bersten lift Mirrorball Trophy – The Sun
Hannah Brown has won Dancing With The Stars 2019 in a stunning finale that saw her lift the Mirrorball Trophy.
The 24-year-old ex-Bachelorette star screamed "thank you everyone" as she and dance partner Alan Bersten shortly after they grasped the coveted prize.
Hannah and Alan beat second place Kel Mitchell, 41, a comedian and actor, to top position after a tightly fought-over final. They were followed by pop star Ally Brooke, 26, in third and country singer Lauren Alaina, 25, in fourth.
The Season 28 finale opened with special performances from Pitbull and Ne-Yo, and Cher.
Despite the triumphant win for Hannah and Alan, the pair were scored lower than nearly all of the other dancers with 58 out 60.
Meanwhile Ally and Sasha Farber finished with a perfect score of 60, Kel and Witney Carson received 59 and Lauren and Gleb Savchenko had 57.
FAMILIAR & FREESTYLE
From there each dancing duo repeated a performance from earlier in the season and finished with a fan-favourite – a freestyle routine.
For the redo round Ally performed the jive, Hannah revisited the Viennese waltz, Lauren redid the foxtrot and Kel went back to jazz.
The four finalists battled it out after Dawson's Creek actor James Van Der Beek, 42, left the show last week.
The announcement happened two days after he revealed the tragic news that his wife Kimberly Brook had suffered a miscarriage.
SPICER UP YOUR LIFE
Prior to that, former White House press secretary Sean Spicer was eliminated from the competition two weeks ago during Week 9.
The 48-year-old started his streak on the show with a cheeky salsa performance to Spice Girl's hit Spice Up Your Life in a fluorescent green top.
Spicer left DWTS in the week following Kate Flannery, who played Meredith Palmer in US adaptation of The Office.
Other eliminated stars included Queer Eye's Karamo Brown, ex-LA Lakers' Lamar Odom, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, Mary Wilson and Ray Lewis who was injured in week three.
In the final viewers were allowed to vote 10 times per voting method – via ABC's website app or text.
The show aired from 8-10pm EST on Monday.
