Holly Willoughby makes acting debut as she plays heartbroken owner whose cat went missing for three years in cartoon ad

HOLLY Willoughby has made her acting debut as she plays a heartbroken owner whose cat went missing for three years.

The This Morning presenter, 39, plays Daniel's mum in the cartoon advert for the Cats Protection charity.

The ad shows Holly's character, Daniel and the cat Casper walking home after picking up a Christmas tree.

However, Caspar stays outside while the others go in – but then doesn't come home afterwards.

Daniel's mum tries to reassure her son that Casper is out exploring, but as time passes they begin to lose hope.

One year, Daniel writes a letter to Santa to ask for Casper to come home.

Despite being microchipped, Holly's character is doubtful as it's been so long – until she receives a phone call.

Travelling out to the edge of town, the mum picks up the cat and surprises Daniel in the morning.

On Christmas Day, he wakes up with Casper on his bed and they have a big cuddle.

The role would be a familiar one for Holly, as she is a mum-of-three, as well as a cat mum to Bluebell.

She had her own traumatic experience with Bluebell after her cat was sick on the floor – following having her mind read.

Bluebell's paws were examined in a bizarre feature on This Morning where animal whisperer Jessica Adams claimed to reveal pets' secret thoughts.

Holly, 39, was astonished when the Tasmanian 'cat psychic' claimed her beloved pet believed she was her mum.

Jessica studied Bluebell's paw, telling an astonished Holly: "She actually thinks she’s your daughter.

"She also thinks that all the flowers that come are for her, and she also thinks the prizes and the awards are also hers, so she’s a bit confused there."

Holly was forced to miss two days of work last week after two of her kids became ill ad had to get tested for coronavirus.

The presenter is mum to Harry, 11, Belle, nine, and Chester, five.

Thankfully, the tests came back all clear and she returned to work this week.
