Hollyoaks 25th anniversary trailer reveals four huge returns, murder & dead body
25 years on the air is certainly something to celebrate, and Hollyoaks is set to mark the milestone with an unforgettable week, which is previewed in this brand new trailer.
It’s been quite an eventful year for the residents of the eponymous village, that’s for sure!
Breda McQueen’s (Moya Brady) reign of terror came to an end, while Edward Hutchinson (Joe McGann) manipulated and schemed his way into Tony’s (Nick Pickard) life.
However, October is almost upon us, and — given that the Channel 4 soap has something of a penchant for going large in October — you can bet that this year is going to be bigger than ever, what with the 25th anniversary on the horizon.
An action-packed trailer for the celebratory week has just dropped, and here’s everything we’ve got to look forward to.
Theresa McQueen returns
The village hasn’t been the same since Theresa (Jorgie Porter) departed, but fans are in for a treat, as the iconic character is set to make an equally iconic return for the 25th anniversary.
Yes, donning a white suitcase, sunglasses, and stilettos, Theresa heads back to Hollyoaks to reunite with her family for what can only promise to be a very dramatic new storyline.
Ste Hay makes a comeback
Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) was radicalised by far-right extremists Jonny Baxter (Ray Quinn) and Stuart Sumner (Chris Simmons), but he eventually realised what he’d done, and decided to take some time away from the village.
As can be seen in the new trailer, Ste — and thus, actor Kieron — is back, and he’s looking a little bit shaken as he is reunited with Yazz Maalik (Haiesha Mistry).
The question is: Has the Maalik clan forgiven him for the torment he and his far-right extremist former friends caused?
Nico Blake is back
Well, kind of.
After giving birth to a baby girl last week, Liberty has been recuperating in hospital. However, viewers were puzzled during the latest episode when she was visited by a mystery nurse.
Well, it turns out that Sienna Blake’s (Anna Passey) evil daughter Nico Blake (Persephone Swales-Dawson) has returns from the dead as a figment of Liberty’s imagination.
Yes, Liberty continues to have doubts about giving away her baby. As her mental state starts to deteriorate, Liberty hallucinates nurse Nico… as Sienna speculates that her sister could have depression.
Kurt Benson’s return
Hollyoaks fans were left in shock yesterday when it was revealed that original cast member Jeremy Edwards will be reprising his role of Kurt Benson for the soap’s big milestone.
The trailer teases said return, as Kurt rides back into his hometown on his signature motorbike and reunites with his old friend Tony.
The McQueens are targeted — but by who?
Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe), Theresa (Jorgie Porter), Goldie (Chelsee Healey) John Paul (James Sutton), Sylver (David Tag), Nana (Diane Langton) and Cher (Bethannie Hare) are being watched and blackmailed for their deadliest sins by a creepy doll in a sinister new storyline which will see the McQueens in serious danger.
Of course, the McQueens are determined to get to the bottom of what’s going on, and therefore they set out to uncover the identity of the blackmailer.
But will they do so?
Mitchell finds Lisa’s body
Mitchell Drinkwell-Deveraux (Imran Adams) discovers Lisa Loveday’s (Rachel Adedeji) body hidden in the boot of his brother, Toby Faroe’s (Bobby Gordon) car.
With Toby having a penchant for violence, this discovery will no doubt spell serious danger for Mitchell.
Toby catches him, but will he set out to cover his tracks? Will he murder his brother?
Yazz proposes to Tom
Emotions are running high as Yazz doubts Tom’s true feelings for her, and in a grand gesture, she decides to propose to her boyfriend in the middle of the village!
The question is: what will Tom say?
Juliet rises up the ranks
Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) has impressed drug-dealer Victor Brothers (Benjamin O’Mahony) in recent weeks, and she continues to do so.
Over the course of the next few weeks, she becomes Victor’s go-to girl as she steps it up a notch — recruiting and blackmailing Mandy Richardson’s (Sarah Jayne Dunn) daughter, Ella.
A murder, a hit-and-run and a devastating divorce
Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) and Felix set out to get deadly revenge on their abusive former children’s home carer, Cormac Ranger (James Gaddas), but Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward) worries they have gone too far and killed him…
What’s more, the trailer also teases that an unsuspecting resident becomes the victim of a hit-and-run, while Tony and Diane (Alex Fletcher) battle with a possible divorce and their undying feelings for one another.
