Hollyoaks’ David Tag reveals he’s opening his own gym after struggling to find work after being killed off soap | The Sun

HOLLYOAKS star David Tag plans to open his own gym in a bid to keep earning money in between acting jobs.

The 38-year-old played Sylver McQueen on the Channel 4 soap for four years before his character was dramatically killed off at the start of last year.

Since then David – who has two sons – has been working as a jobbing actor and has experienced the highs and lows of what that involves.

After a difficult 2023, David – who is due to appear in panto later this month – has decided to set up his own business to support the family.

Speaking about work since leaving the soap, David told us: “The year that I left it was pretty good. I was getting maybe one or two jobs a month.

“Nothing of as big as calibre as Hollyoaks, but good show, good jobs, helping build the CV.

“But this year the first half I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the strikes, it just seems to be very, very quiet just across the board.

“And the second half of this year has started to pick up again. So I'm excited for next year. I’ve got a few things in the pipeline.”

Revealing his plans, David continued: “I am actually in the process of opening my own PT studio, that is what I used to do before I joined Hollyoaks.

“I’m opening a little gym in Knutsford where I live, it will be a private studio and I will get a few other trainers to work in there as well. It’ll be like an exclusive gym membership.”

But before then, David is going be very busy over the festive period – transforming into the baddie, Fleshcreep, in Jack And The Beanstalk at Rochdale’s Middleton Arena.

He will be joining from December 16th  up until the 29th after making the decision to do a shorter panto run this year.

David explained: “In the past I've done two pantos the past two years and they've been very, very full on.

“The fact that now that I have two small children, I just thought I'll just do a shorter stint this year, and then at least, I can be here for most of Christmas and then be able to help out and enjoy it a bit more with my family.”
