I’m A Celeb’s Jordan North’s war-hero brother says he’s ‘made family so proud’
Jordan North 's war-hero brother says the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star has "done their family proud".
The 30-year-old BBC Radio One DJ stole the nation's hearts when he was so scared during his first challenge on the ITV show that he threw up on day one on the side of a cliff in Wales.
But now the star has gone on to become a fan favourite with his war-hero brother, Ryan North, 34, rushing to say how proud he is of his little brother.
Ryan, who serves in the second Battalion Parachute Regiment, was awarded a bravery award for rescuing injured colleagues from a firefight with the Taliban, in Afghanistan, after he was nearly killed in a roadside attack in Iraq.
Jordan has previously credited his brother's bravery in life for motivating him to do I'm A Celeb.
Speaking to The Mirror, Ryan opened up on how he is filled with pride for his brother.
He told the publication: "It is… humbling and makes me proud that he looks at me in this way."
He added: "We have completely different career paths, I’m extremely proud to serve my country and he’s extremely proud of entertaining a country on BBC Radio 1."
Jordan was only 16-years-old when Ryan was critically injured in 2006, in a blast that killed his friend.
The star's mum Wendy said she spent most of the week after by her son's bedside in the hospital.
His dad Graham, who served in The Queen’s Lancashire Regiment until 2006, was in the Middle East with work.
During this time, Jordan had to help look after his younger brothers Brad and Dominic at the family home in Preston, Lancs.
Ryan continued: "I think we all changed a lot during this period.
"At the time I don’t think any of us noticed it but looking back it definitely brought a strong family unit even closer together.
"My dad was away with the military and my mum has always been the rock for us all and I know we are very thankful for the upbringing we had."
I'm A Celeb continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV.
