Lauren Baldwin (played by Paige Hurd) is the ex-girlfriend of Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr) and while they are no longer together, their connection remained. However, in episode nine of the Starz drama, it didn’t look good for Lauren so now fans are desperate to know if they have seen the last of Tariq’s love interest.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Power Book 2.
Is Lauren dead in Power Book 2?
Episode nine, A Fair Fight?, premiered on Sunday, January 30, on Starz and Starzplay in the UK.
At the beginning of the instalment, it seemed that Brayden Weston (Gianni Paolo) was ready to kill Lauren so she wouldn’t get in the way of his work with Cane (Woody McClain).
But since Tariq was adamant he wanted to make sure she was safe, Brayden remained loyal, choosing not to cause any harm to her.
While they haven’t exactly been on the best of terms as of late, Brayden wouldn’t want to betray his friend in that way.
Unfortunately for Lauren though, this didn’t mean that she was safe.
Effie (Alex Lapri) didn’t want to leave it to chance and so made strides towards what Brayden refused to do.
She confronted Lauren, insisting that she had to go with her and before she was able to say anything else, Effie knocked her out.
At the end of the episode, Effie was seen getting into bed with Tariq who was none the wiser.
As of yet, it is known if Lauren is actually dead as Effie wasn’t shown killing her.
She has definitely been seriously injured at the very least but it was left unclear whether or not Effie had murdered her.
Effie doesn’t like leaving loose ends and Lauren is just that so it doesn’t seem like there would be any reason for her to keep Tariq’s ex-girlfriend alive.
So fans are just going to have to wait until the series finale to find out what happened, although it should be noted the star hasn’t penned a farewell on social media so perhaps she isn’t leaving any time soon.
