Jack Whitehall ordered to act ‘more relatable’ as bosses fear landing Hollywood roles is losing him fans – The Sun
DO celebrities really think they can get away with claiming they’re just like us?
We know their make-up-free selfie has been filtered and photoshopped by their own social media guy, their day-to-day outfits cost four figures and have been gifted by a designer, and the cute restaurant they namecheck in an interview is impossible to get into.
Even Prince Harry was at it this week, claiming he can’t cope with the daily grind despite milling about in palaces and being able to throw a £32million wedding.
So it’s refreshing for a celebrity such as Jack Whitehall to own their luxury lifestyle and poke fun at behind-the-scenes attempts to make the rich and famous seem relatable.
The posh comic, who is about to star in Disney blockbuster Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, revealed his own team have ordered him to try to appear more down-to-earth, fearing he could alienate fans.
Jack said: “I’ve just started doing a tour and I’ve been told I need to look more relatable, so I now need to lie and pretend that I fly on Ryanair and not boujee airlines.
“They also told me I need to stop talking about Waitrose on stage. They say I talk about Waitrose too much, so now I have to pretend I’m a normal person and shop at Lidl.”
Jack came clean during a talk at London’s Southbank Centre with Antoni Porowski from make-over show Queer Eye.
Food guru Antoni was in on the joke, saying: “No caviar references. You know when the caviar’s not super-fresh? So annoying.”
I’ve looked up the airline Jack flew on. It describes itself as “a boutique flying experience” offering “French gastronomy” and “rare wines” from “award-winning harvests”.
Yeah, but do trumpets play when the plane lands? Jack, mate, you’re missing out.
