Kat and Phil actually get married in EastEnders – but there's tragedy to come
They’ve finally done it! Kat Slater and Phil Mitchell (Jessie Wallace and Steve McFadden) have finally tied the knot in EastEnders – though it wasn’t without its hiccups, which may cause problems in the future.
The ceremony itself went without a hitch, with everyone remembering their vows and no one jumping up to confess that they know of any lawful impediment as to why these two should not be joined in matrimony, but getting there was another matter entirely.
Phil and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) were supposed to be getting the tube with Kat and her hens to the registry office, but the women were forced to leave without them when they failed to show.
They were totally unaware that Phil and Alfie were still at Peggy’s, deep in discussion about the secrets they had both been keeping. And unfortunately, these secrets may be set to threaten Phat’s future happiness…
Alfie had been horrified to learn that Phil had cheated on Kat by sleeping with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) and was quick to berate him for his actions.

However, Phil soon realised that there was more to it than he was letting on, and soon Alfie had admitted that he had lied about getting the all clear from his prostate cancer tests.
With both men keeping secrets together, they agreed on a pact to never tell anyone what they had spoken about, before going their separate ways.
When Phil arrived at the registry office alone, he kept his end of the bargain and lied to Kat about Alfie’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile, Alfie had arrived at the hospital for his prostatectomy, where he was soon met by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) who had come to support him.
It was here that Alfie admitted to her that he still had feelings for Kat, and he couldn’t get over her no matter how hard he tried.
As Phil and Kat got the deed done and headed back to the Square a married couple, they were all smiles. But with such big secrets hanging over them, we can’t help but wonder if their marriage may be doomed from the start.
With Sharon Watts and Keanu Taylor (Letitia Dean and Danny Walters) also in on Phil’s dirty little secret, there is every possibility it could get back to Kat, leaving Phil in hot water with his new wife.
On top of that, Kat being kept in the dark about Alfie’s cancer scare was what led them to fight and Phil to stray in the first place, so we can’t imagine she’ll be best pleased to have been kept out of the loop for a second time.
If kat were to find out and rush to Alfie’s bedside, would he confess his true feelings, putting Kat and Phil’s marriage in jeopardy?
