Katherine Jenkins speaks for first time about horror of mugging as she tried to save pensioner – The Sun
KATHERINE Jenkins has spoken for the first time about the horror of being mugged as she stepped in to save a pensioner.
The opera singer was on her way for a charity gig rehearsal last December when she saw a woman being robbed.
Katherine, 39, said: “She was clearly in distress, screaming for help.
“So many people just walked past. It was an instinct to rush over and I got attacked as well.
“I didn’t consider that people might know who I am. If it happened again I’d do it again.”
Katherine, who sang later in the charity show, said: “I was shaken up initially. But my instinct is always to keep going.”
In January, a 15-year-old girl walked free from court after admitting taking the star’s iPhone.
Pictures from the scene after the attack showed a distraught-looking Katherine talking to police.
Witnesses said she had flagged down a passing patrol car and that they had chased the suspects and arrested them.A punter at the show afterwards said: "Katherine was brilliant as ever but I sensed a little spark missing in her voice.”'
The Welsh mezzo-soprano has told in the past how she fought off a would-be rapist when she was just 17 years old.
