Little Birds released its first trailer today (June 26) for the new adaptation of the erotic vignettes written by Anais Nin. The new period drama seems like a unique foray into the underbelly of the 1950s and stars some familiar faces. Here’s everything fans need to know about the release date, cast, trailer and plot of the new show.

When is Little Birds released on Sky?

The new erotic adaptation of Nin’s work has been announced by Sky with a new trailer for the show.

The series is set in the 1950s in the Tangier International Zone and stars actors like Juno Temple and Hugh Skinner.

Sky has announced all episodes of the new series will be made available on August 4 for fans to watch.

They’ll be made available to stream on Sky’s platform NOW TV as well as airing on the channel.

Who stars in Little Birds on Sky?

The cast of Little Birds features some familiar faces taking on the leading roles in the new adaptation.

This includes June Temple who leads the cast as New York heiress Lucy Savage.

She is joined by Fleabag’s Hugh Skinner who plays her British husband Hugo Cavendish-Smyth.

Yumna Marwan plays a scandalous dominatrix named Cherifa Lamor, who the couple encounter in Tangier.

Other cast members include Nina Sosanya, David Costabile, Raphael Acloque, Rossy de Palma and Amy Landecker.

What will happen in Little Birds?

According to Sky, Little Birds follows Lucy Savage (played by Juno Temple) as she arrives in the Tangier International Zone of the 1950s.

Arriving off the transatlantic streamer ready for love and new adventures, she is thrust into a unique and erotic world.

She is newly married but soon encounters a number of unique characters in the underbelly of her new home.

This includes a dominatrix named Cherifa Lamor (Yumna Marwan) who introduces her to the freedoms of the country.

This is all set against the backdrop of Tangier, which is on the brink of gaining its independence in the 1950s.

The show is adapted from the short vignettes written by Anais Nin who was a French-Cuban writer.

She wrote a collection of erotica called Little Birds in the 1940s before it was published in 1979.

Comprised of 13 short stories, the topics covered include everything from paedophilia to lesbianism.

However, the show is only loosely inspired by the stories and instead weaves a new tale focused on Tangier.

Is there a trailer for Little Birds?

Yes, the first trailer for the new show has now been released by Sky.

The short clip gives a glimpse at the unique world of the show and its cast of characters.

This begins by showing Lucy arriving in Tangier freshly married before she encounters Cherifa in a nightclub bathroom.

The trailer sets up the unique time period in 1950s Tangier and hints it will deal with things like sexual freedom as well as politics.

Little Birds will be released on Sky on August 4.
