Lord Sugar brands Piers Morgan 'hypocrite' for getting coronavirus test
Lord Sugar has slammed Piers Morgan for getting tested for coronavirus and insists the Good Morning Britain presenter isn’t an essential worker – even though Piers is actually an essential worker.
The Apprentice mogul has repeatedly clashed with Piers throughout the pandemic, earlier wondering how he got tested in the first place.
And has now called out his former friend after the ITV host shared the news of his Covid-19 results online.
‘Have I missed something?’ Lord Sugar kicked off. ‘Like the Govn “Masochist bill”. According to @piersmorgan he is a Govn- designated essential worker.
‘Does he mean the Govn see him essential to slag them off every day. There are other presenters to step in @gmb he is certainly not essential.’ (sic)
In another post, Lord Sugar continued: ‘.@piersmorgan not an Govn-designated essential worker. There’re Nurses, Doctors, Police, Army, train and truck drivers.
‘He deprived real essential workers from a test. If this was Hugh Grant, Meghan or other of his enemies like me. He would be howling from the rooftops. HYPOCRITE.’ (sic)
‘Frankly @piersmorgan has shot himself in the foot,’ Lord Sugar went on to add. ‘He would have done better saying nothing and not mention testing.
‘He has opened a can of worms for people to have a go at him. However good news he tested negative.’
Perhaps Lord Sugar hasn’t seen that the government has expanded its testing target to 100,000 a day?
The list of the government’s key workers includes journalists and broadcasters who are providing public service broadcasting, as well as those essential to the running of the justice system, religious staff, charities, workers delivering key frontline services and those responsible for the management of the deceased.
In addition to NHS patients, the powers that be have also pledged to test all essential workers – including NHS staff and those who work in social care – who are presenting symptoms, anyone over 65 who is presenting symptoms, and anyone with symptoms who cannot work from home – which is where studio-based Piers would fall.
Piers has yet to respond to any of Lord Sugar’s tweets.
