Star Wars fans were thrilled by the franchise’s first live-action series for Disney Plus. Originally released in October 2019 in the States, The Mandalorian went on to become an international hit when it was made available overseas at the start of 2020. Now a sneak peek at season two could spell trouble for Baby Yoda.

Although the Skywalker Saga came to a rocky conclusion with last year’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans are still hyped for the return of the franchise’s first Disney+ series, The Mandalorian.

Pedro Pascal stars as the titular bounty hunter, known as Din Djarin or ‘Mando’ who bites off more than he can chew when he is hired to retrieve a priceless asset, known as the Child.

More commonly known as Baby Yoda thanks to its resemblance to Frank Oz’s creation in The Empire Strikes Back, the Child instantly became one of the most popular new additions to the Star Wars mythos.

When Mando discovers his ‘Client’ (played by Werner Herzog) intended to harvest the Child for his potent Force abilities, he goes against his word and escapes to protect the adorable green alien.

When season two is released on October 30, Mando and the Child will remain on the run, pursued by the fearless Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), revealed at the end of the first season.

As The Mandalorian takes place some years after Return of the Jedi, Gideon commands a crippled faction of the Empire after the second Death Star was destroyed by the Rebel Alliance.

Revealed exclusively to Entertainment Weekly, some brand new images from season two have teased what’s to come when the space Western returns.

The pictures confirmed the return of the show’s main cast, including Pedro Pascal once again donning the sleek grey armour of the Mandalorian creed.

Also returning are Gina Carano (Cara Dune) and Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Mando’s companions from the first season.

Another image confirmed the return of the sinister Moff Gideon, who is revealed to have a much bigger role to play in The Mandalorian’s second season.

One intriguing image featured Djarin standing alongside the Child, taking a brief rest from the action.

While another picture revealed Mando’s land speeder, a hovering vehicle used to travel across planets like Tatooine at high speeds.

Look closely, and fans should be able to spot another sighting of Baby Yoda, tucked away in a pouch at the back of the speeder.

The Child could be accompanying Djarin on the hoverbike for any number of reasons, but there is already concern the green critter could be thrown headfirst into the action in season two.

Season one of The Mandalorian already proved Baby Yoda is more than capable of handling himself, demonstrated when he uses the Force to fend off a rampaging mudhorn.

However, with Moff Gideon accompanied by fleets of stormtroopers and armed with the legendary Dark Saber, there’s no telling what hazards could befall the duo when their adventures continue.

The image of the Child strapped to the back of Mando’s speeder is already conjuring up worrying visions of him in the middle of a risky high speed pursuit.

Season three is already in the works from showrunner Jon Favreau, so it’s unlikely Disney will want to kill off one of their most popular new characters.

Still, Baby’s Yoda’s tiny stature makes him an easy target, so Din Djarin will have to do everything in his power to ensure his safety in The Mandalorian season two.

The Mandalorian season 2 will be released October 30 on Disney+.
