Meat Loaf’s last ever television appearance came on a ghost-hunting show based in Tennessee.
The iconic Bat Out of Hell singer died with his family by his side aged 74 on Thursday, January 20, with news breaking on Friday.
His agent Michael Greene announced the news on social media with a statement that read: "Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side.
"Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours.
"His amazing career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including Fight Club, Focus, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wayne's World.
"We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man.
"We thank you for your understanding of our need for privacy at this time. From his heart to your souls… don't ever stop rocking!"
But along with his legendary music career, Meat Loaf was known for appearances in films including Fight Club, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wayne’s World.
And he didn’t give up on his on-screen career later in life, either, as he teamed up with a gang of US Ghost Hunters for an episode set to air in February 2022.
The episode, titled ‘The Haunted House on the Hill’, will see The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) team up with Meat Loaf to investigate a haunted farmhouse located in Tennessee.
Its official synopsis reads: "Rumours of terrifying activity have plagued the property for decades, but the new owners want to reassure the community that their home doesn’t harbour dangerous entities."
It isn’t the first time Meat Loaf partnered up with the Ghost Hunters team, as he also joined up with them back in 2009 for an episode named after his biggest hit Bat Out of Hell, which saw them head to a haunted private island in Thousand Islands, New York.
The star explained to Shortlist in 2012 that he regularly spoke to paranormal entities, admitting: "I believe there’s something when you die because there are ghosts. I’ve seen them, I’ve been around them. Some are just energy left behind, and some are intelligent.
"I’ve had conversations with them using a K2 meter, which lets them answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’."
In a chilling statement made in 2011, Meat Loaf admitted he wanted to die on-stage, admitting: "I go out on the stage as if it’s the last thing I’ll ever do. And that’s what I’ve always said – if I’m going out, I’m going out on stage."
