Netflix’s Tiger King producers tease second season as ‘there’s a lot that’s still unfolding’

NETFLIX'S Tiger King producers have teased a second season as ‘there’s a lot that’s still unfolding’.

The new docuseries about eccentric animal collector Joe Exotic has had viewers gripped since it first started streaming last week.

Joe, 57, owned 1200 lions, tigers and bears in the middle of Oklahoma, but he soon went from quirky entertainer to serving 22 years behind bars for trafficking and killing animals – and paying a hitman to murder a rival, Carole Baskin.

Animal activist Carole was called the “Mother Theresa of cats” and the owner of a big cat sanctuary in Tampa, Florida.

The rivalry between the pair makes for binge-worthy viewing, and even after Joe was sent to prison for his crimes, he continued to make extreme claims about Carole killing her first husband.

While Carole has vehemently denied his accusations, Tiger King producers have hinted the drama between the pair and their industry could warrant a second series.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Rebecca Chaiklin said: "To be continued…I mean, yes we have a crazy amount of footage and it's a story that's still unfolding.

"We're not sure yet, but there could be a follow-up on this story because there's a lot that's still unfolding in it, and it'll be just as dramatic and just as colorful as what has unfolded these past few years."

The six-episode series includes a lot of archival footage from its contributors.

Rebecca added: "As you can see in the series, there's a lot of archival material.

"And unlike other documentaries, our archival materials are almost 100 percent from people's personal archives.

"Which was a dream as filmmakers, that our subjects were so obsessed with filming themselves.

"You didn't have to exaggerate in this world, it was as colorful. You couldn’t have made this stuff up. No exaggerations needed."

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is available to stream now on Netflix.
