New Doctor Strange trailer features suspected Patrick Stewart cameo
The official Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer has dropped, leaving Marvel fans absolutely gagging for the film’s upcoming debut.
The first teaser arrived in December shortly after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, however, a new two-minute clip sees Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as he faces the consequences of dabbling with the multiverse with what sounds like a cameo from Patrick Stewart.
Halfway through the trailer, Stephen looks intrigued as a character who is off-screen tells him: ‘We should tell him the truth.’
Fans were immediately sent into a frenzy by the snippet and rushed to social media to share their hunches that Stewart’s Professor X is back.
‘Did I hear Patrick Stewart…?’ one viewer wrote, while another penned: ‘I SWEAR I JUST HEARD PATRICK STEWARTS VOICE!’
Could viewers be in for a treat with an appearance from Professor X? Only time will tell…
Stewart’s involvement in the new film has not yet been confirmed, but he had previously said in 2020 that he had conversations with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige about reprising his role.
‘I met with Kevin Feige a couple of months ago and we had long, long conversations,’ he commented to Digital Spy.
‘And there have been moves and suggestions, which include Charles Xavier.’
‘Here’s the problem…,’ he added to the publication. ‘If we had not made Logan, then yes, I would probably be ready to get into that wheelchair one more time and be Charles Xavier,’ ‘But Logan changed all that.’
The Doctor Strange sequel will mark the return of several actors in the cast, including Rachel McAdams as Dr Christine Palmer, Chiwetel Ejiofor Karl Mordo and of course, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, following her transformation into the Scarlet Witch in WandaVision.
Meanwhile, Chiwetel Ejiofor will also appear as Mordo.
Director Scott Derrickson quit the project last year due to ‘creative differences’ with Marvel Studios, although he has stayed on as executive producer.
Spider-Man director Sam Raimi later took over.
