Next James Bond: James Norton SPEAKS OUT on replacing Daniel Craig as 007 rumours

James Norton has been one of the bookies’ favourites for quite some time with alleged sources claiming he has had “secret meetings” to replace Daniel Craig after No Time To Die. But now Norton has spoken out on the claims he is the next James Bond. The 34-year-old was promoting his new film Mr Jones on The Chris Evans Virgin Radio Breakfast Show with Sky today, when the host asked him about it all.

However, Norton was pretty adamant saying: “None of it is true. No it’s not true. None of it.

“Maybe there is a journalist who know more than me, but as far as I am concerned, what they put in the papers is is nonsense.

“I think it’s very good click bait. And if you notice that when anyone’s on telly, they often at the centre of the conversation.

“But unfortunately or fortunately, whatever you think, it’s people making stories. I promise you, I promise you.”

Norton continued: “I mean, as far as I’m concerned, I have not had a single conversation beyond like this.

“So and I mean, I hope Daniel Craig might do one or two more.”

“I mean, maybe there are conversations going on, but they’re not involving me.”

The star went on to confirm that he’d had no conversations with EON productions or his agent.

However, when Evans pushed for some sort of chat with his agent, Norton added: “Well maybe among others.”

So it’s not like he’s opposed to the idea.

Norton made similar comments about the rumours to the i newspaper recently.

The star said: “I’ve said it many times: the word I use about this is just ‘bizarre’.

He added: “I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t exciting and flattering.”

“I don’t know where it comes from.”

Recent comments from Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson confirm the siblings haven’t begun looking for Craig’s replacement.

If anything, the duo are still heavily focusing on delivering No Time To Die.

Wilson told Empire: “We’ll have to see. It hasn’t entered our mind.”

Meanwhile, Broccoli has confirmed the next Bond “can be of any colour, but he is male.”

She added: “I believe we should be creating new characters for women — strong female characters.

“I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”
