Nicola Adams thanks fans for support after making Strictly history
Strictly Come Dancing’s Nicola Adams has thanked fans for their support after making history on the show by performing in the first same-sex couple last night.
The former Olympian had audiences crying happy tears as she danced the quickstep with her partner Katya Jones, with the judges also heaping praise onto the pair as they delivered their verdict.
Nicola shared a video of her performance as she addressed the monumental television moment, branding the whole shebang ‘unbelievable’.
‘Last night was unbelievable, I never thought I would enjoy dancing as much as I am,’ she wrote. ‘I was sooooo happy and excited last night dancing with @mrs_katjones.’
Nicola continued: ‘Thank you everyone for your support and your messages! We’ll be working hard next week on the new dance, can’t wait for you to see it!
‘I’m a dancer baby.’

Nicola and Katya were awarded an impressive 21 points out of a possible 30 for their performance on Saturday, their first of the 2020 series.
Judge Motsi Mabuse said she had been intrigued to see what the pair would come up with.
‘I have to say I was very curious, “How is it all going to happen? How is it going to turn out?”‘ she said. ‘And you haven’t disappointed me… We loved it, keep going.’
Craig Revel Horwood said the dance was ‘absolute dynamite’ while Shirley Ballas said Katya was a ‘genius’ for coming up with the choreography.
Since last night’s show, MP Jacqui Smith and Anton Du Beke have been declared the firm favourites to be first eliminated from the series.
Metro.co.uk readers cast their votes, and reckon that Jacqui is the landslide favourite to be sent home after next week’s elimination, closely followed by Jamie Laing and Bill Bailey, who earnt 10% of the vote each.
