Outlander season 5: Brianna Fraser to step back as Claire Fraser takes charge?
Outlander viewers will finally be getting their fix of the Frasers next month, as Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) will return to TV screens. The die-hard fans simply cannot wait to settle into revolutionary America once again and catch up with their favourite characters – and there is a lot to catch up with.
Season four’s finale sent both the characters and viewers on a rollercoaster of emotions, as Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) was tasked with deciding whether he wanted to stay with his wife, Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton), after he found out their baby might not be his.
Baby Jemmy could be the product of a horrific rape by Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speelers) but Roger vowed to stay with Brianna no matter what.
Season five is due to bring the pair together once again but this time, in a more close-quarters setting alongside in-laws Claire and Jamie.
As Claire and Jamie gracefully grow older, fans have been speculating over whether they will take a step back in upcoming seasons to allow Brianna and Roger to be the sole focus of the show.
Although this is a controversial opinion and many other fans have condemned this thought in the hopes Jamie and Claire will continue to be the main figureheads of Outlander.

- Outlander season 5: Jamie Fraser will take on ‘gut-wrenching’ stories
Recently, Express.co.uk held a poll about the future of the show and put it to the die-hard fans for what they want next in the Outlander series.
The poll asked: “Should Jamie and Claire Fraser be replaced by Brianna and Roger MacKenzie?”
Just under 1,100 viewers gave their say on the issue at hand, and the results are overwhelming.
Just over 1,000 fans voted that no, Jamie and Claire should not be sent packing during or after this season with the caveat: “They should be the sole focus of the show.”
This isn’t overly surprising, as the fandom for Outlander have a burning passion for both Claire and Jamie, and if their relationship were to deteriorate perhaps so too would the show.
But if Claire and Jamie are the desired couple to take the forefront of the show, does this mean Brianna and Roger will take a step back?
As fans have explained they want the original duo to be the “sole focus” of the show, could that lead to Brianna and Roger moving away from the show a little?
Meanwhile, less than 50 voters meagrely claimed, yes, Claire and Jamie’s time in the limelight ought to come to an end.
They captioned their desires with the additional comment: “Their time has passed!”

Brianna and Roger have already been through a great deal of emotional and physical stress over the four seasons so far.
If they were to take over the show, their experiences would feed a different kind of story in the show, bringing another angle to the show entirely.
But if they were to take over, would the fandom appreciate the changes that were going to be made, and stick with the show?
Meanwhile, fans of the show have been attempting to spot errors in the earlier episodes – with one rearing its head during Claire and Jamie’s wedding.

During the first season Claire is due to be married to Jamie – however she refused to marry a man whose name she did not know.
But eagle-eyed fans then recalled she spied the marriage certificate the day before.
One fan wrote online in comment to this apparent blunder: “Jamie’s full name is written on the contract shown at the end (of) #Outlander ep 6, so why doesn’t Claire know it in ep 7? Hmm? @Outlander_Starz.”
