Piers Morgan coronavirus: GMB host slammed for presenting as he admits son had symptoms

Good Morning Britain was back and today, Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were presenting from 6am right through to 9am. Minutes into the show starting, Piers dropped a worrying admission; his son had previously displayed mild coronavirus symptoms, but viewers were quick to ask whether or not the journalist had self-isolated for 14 days like government advice suggests and similarly to his co-star.

During a conversation with guest journalist Andrew Pierce about his coronavirus symptoms, Piers said: “One of my sons had it in a much milder way. My youngest boy.

“I think most people are associating (lack of taste and smell) that with the virus, it’s a very unnerving thing to get.”

Shocked, Susanna asked: “Your son?”

“Yes, he had mild symptoms which have cleared up now,” Piers reiterated.

It is unknown which son of Piers’ was the one to contract mild symptoms.

However, many were quick to hit Twitter and blast the presenter for not self-isolating.

Piers diagnosed his son with covid, should he not have gone into isolation? #gmb,” one said.

Another added: “Piers just told us all that his son had the coronavirus (symptoms), but I don’t remember him being at home isolating? Isn’t the advice that if someone in your house has it, you must all self-isolate? Like Susannah did. Honestly. He is…Zipper-mouth faceFace with rolling eyes #GMB #COVID19.”

“#GMB @piersmorgan If one of your sons had it, why didn’t you self isolate for 14 days? You’ve been bawling and shouting at everyone via your media platform and you let it slip,” someone else remarked.

One tweet questioned: “Did Piers just say he son had covid? #gmb.”

“@piersmorgan if your youngest son has had it, why have you not been self isolating? #GMB,” a viewer probed.

Express.co.uk has contacted GMB for clarity on Piers continuing to present and also Piers’ representative for clarity.
