Who dies in Queen of the South?

By the end of season four Mendoza had made a deal with a Russian drug boss so she could hold her power as cartel leader.

Season five has already been confirmed and co-showrunner Ben Lobato said Mendoza will realise there is no escape.

Fans who are catching up with the series are keen to find out who dies, and Javier Jimenez (Alfonso Herrera) was one of the characters to see his demise.

Javier was beaten up and covered in petrol before he died at the hands of Judge Lafayette (David Andrews), who had asked for Javier in exchange for Oksana Volkova (Vera Cherny).

Randall Green (Cory Hart) also saw his comeuppance when Javier grabbed him at the last minute and the pair burned to death together.

At the end of the final episode James (Peter Gadiot) climbed out of a speeding car and he was badly injured, warning the gang someone was after them.

But fans of James’s character will be pleased to hear he does not die in the series, and instead makes a dramatic return.

Loboto teased James plays a big role in season five and fans are already excited to find out what happens in the new season.

James Valdez is Camila’s (Veronica Falcón) right-hand man, and she is the head of the North American branch of the Vargas Cartel in Texas.

One of the most shocking deaths of the season was that of Tony Parra (Julian Silva) – Teresa’s godson.

Loboto said it was important to bring Tony back due to his connection with his mother Brenda (Justina Machado).

He told Entertainment Weekly: “Tony’s death really is a catalyst and a turning point for her [Mendoza]. This is now arching for her towards the one thing that we’ve all been waiting for, which is for her to become queen.”

Teresa had found hope when she had Tony back in her life, even though he proved to be rebellious. Teresa wanted to give him his first car before he went to art school, but it was rigged to explode.

Tony is killed during the intense explosion, which also leaves Teresa in a coma and she awakes to find she must avenge his death.

Fans have already taken to Twitter to express their sadness after Tony left the series, with one fan saying: “Tony’s death in Queen of the South really hurt”.

Tereza added a number of names to her kill count in the fourth season, as she ends up killing Bobby Leroux (Chris Greene) unintentionally.

Leroux was street gang leader Marcel Dumas’ (Alimi Ballard) right-hand man and Teresa expected Dumas of killing two of her men.

She interrogated Bobby who tried to escape but he died in the process, and Dumas is later found to be innocent.

Another character to feel the wrath of Mendoza was El Gordo (Pêpê Rapazote) a Cuban drug dealer who joins forces with Mendoza.

He was a distributor but caused too many problems for Mendoza and Volkova, and the pair teamed up to take El Gordo out.
