Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty is done and dusted for another series as season four came to an end earlier this month. Nevertheless, fans shouldn’t be worried about the cartoon’s future as it has already been given the green light for more episodes. So there will be a fifth season of Rick and Morty with brand new episodes which may delve further into who Beth really is.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Rick and Morty season 4.
Going back to season three, in The ABC’s of Beth, Rick gave his daughter the choice to clone herself.
While it was not revealed what she decided straight away, the season four finale showed exactly what happened.
Beth asked her dad to make the decision for her and he chose to make a clone.
The intention of this was so that the real Beth could go on adventures in the multiverse while the clone stayed at home and took care of everything on Earth.
Things soon got complicated though when Space Beth returned home.

Both of the Beths found out Rick had told them they were the real version.
However, the truth came out that Rick didn’t actually know which one of them was the clone as he made himself forget.
Even when he watched the memory of the cloning process take place, he realised he looked away while their identities were swapped so him and everyone else would never know.
So now the massive question is Earth Beth really the original or has she been the clone all along?
Which Beth is the clone?
At the end of season four, it was left unclear to both the characters and the audience at home as to who was the real Beth.
But it seems like the answer has already been discovered, even before the start of series five.
In addition to the series, there is a free-to-play Rick and Morty game called Pocket Mortys.
This game features many of the characters from the series and as each episode is released, updates are made to the game.

One update in particular in Pocket Mortys caught fans on Reddit’s attention.
A viewer simply posted: “Did they reveal who the clone was?” with a screen grab of a picture of Space Beth but instead with the caption “Clone Beth”.
Does this mean Space Beth is really the clone and Earth Beth has been the original this entire time?
Clone Beth might have just been a simpler term to use to differentiate between the two but there are a couple of clues to back up this theory.

The first being is that Pocket Mortys is created by Adult Swim Games, the company directly connected to Rick and Morty’s network Adult Swim.
So it isn’t just a random company producing the game but rather people who would have in-depth knowledge of the show.
Secondly, co-creator Justin Roiland also confirmed a few years back how what happens in the game is genuinely linked to the series.
When asked about the connection between the game and the series at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016, Roiland said:
“Technically everything is canon in an infinite multiverse. So…yeah it is. F**k it.”
