'Rupaul's Drag Race': The Best Lip-Sync Performances, According to Fans on Twitter

VH1’s RuPaul’s Drag Race had many memorable moments, from Shangela’s “I Never Had A Sugar Daddy” speech to Naomi eliminating Manila Luzon on All-Stars 4. Of course, some iconic lip-sync performances that are talked about years later. There are a few honorable mentions that, sadly, didn’t make this list, (we’re talking about you, Raven vs. Jujubee lip-syncing to “Dancing On My Own.”) Regardless, these are the most-tweeted, most iconic lip-sync performances on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Roxxxy Andrews vs. Alyssa Edwards, ‘Whip My Hair’

Fans may not remember what got them to the bottom two, but Roxxxy Andrews and Alyssa Edwards’ “Whip My Hair” battle landed them in the lip-sync hall of fame. Roxxxy Andrews’ performance also sparked the wig-ruveal trend, leading all the way up to Brooke Lynn Hytes in RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11.

“Remember when Roxxxy Andrews had to [lip-sync] for her life to ‘Whip My Hair’ and she simultaneously gave me all life, death, and despair. Yas,” said one Twitter user.

Chi Chi DeVayne vs. Thorgy Thor, ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’

One of the Drag Race “lip-sync assassins,” Chi Chi DeVayne, gave fans an emotional and sincere performance unlike anything else. For the lip-sync of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going,” by Jennifer Holliday, Chi Chi broke her pearls and stole our hearts.

“It’s the end of the day and all I can think of is how Chi Chi Devayne killed that lipsync against Thorgy,” said one Twitter User.

Alyssa Edwards vs. Tatianna, ‘Shut Up and Drive’

There were so many iconic moment in RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 2. This was one of them. Tatianna and Alyssa Edwards faced off to Rihanna’s “Shut Up and Drive.” In the end, both of them were saved and earned the power to send home another contestant. (They both chose Phi Phi O’Hara.)

“I’m afraid that Naomi Smalls and Gia Gunn’s lip-sync is not the most iconic in Drag Race Her-story. It’s not even close. Alyssa Edwards vs Tatianna ‘Shut Up And Drive’ has always been, and will always be, the ultimate lipsync,” said one Twitter user.

Sasha Velour vs. Shea Couleé, ‘So Emotional’

Sure, we’ve seen wig reveals before, but not like this. Sasha Velour began her “lip-sync for the crown” performance of “So Emotional” by Whitney Houston, plucking the petals off of a rose. By the end, Sasha threw both her gloves, stuffed with petals, and her wig, also completely loaded with rose petals. With that, Sasha Velour won the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”

“When Sasha takes her wig off during the ‘so emotional’ lip-sync I am shook every time its been TWO YEARS,” said one Twitter user.

Naomi Smalls vs. Gia Gunn, ‘Adrenaline’

This All-Stars 4 performance was between Season 6 transgender advocate, Gia Gunn, and the legs of Season 8, Naomi Smalls. This performance to RuPaul’s “Adrenaline” went down in Drag Race history, as one of the most upbeat and exciting lip-syncs. In the end, Naomi Smalls triumphed, sending home Gia Gunn.

“Well we officially have a new entry into the most legendary lip syncs of Drag Race club,” said one Twitter user.

Brooke Lynn Hytes vs. Yvie Oddly, ‘Sorry Not Sorry’

Their snatch game wasn’t exactly “on point,” but that doesn’t mean they can’t put on a great show. Season 11 contestants Brooke Lynn Hytes and Yvie Oddly battled it out over Demi Lovato’s “Sorry Not Sorry.” In the end, they were both safe.

“Sorry not sorry but Yvie deserves the crown just as much as Brooke,” said one Twitter user, regarding the Drag Race finale. “I’ll be happy with whoever wins but there is no need to discredit the other queen just because one is your favorite. How about you focus on supporting your favorite without bringing down the other queen!!”

The finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 premieres May 30, 2019 on VH1.
