Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair recreate Cruel Intentions’ infamous kiss 21 years after film’s premiere – The Sun
SARAH Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair have recreated their iconic Cruel Intentions kiss – only through a face mask due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The best friends met on the set of the cult teen drama in 1999 and have stayed firm friends ever since, with Sarah helping Selma through her MS battle.
Cecile Caldwell, played by Selma, is a naive and sheltered young girl to whom Kathryn Merteuil, played by Sarah Michelle, gleefully uses to exact revenge on an ex-boyfriend and her step-brother Sebastian Valmont.
Their characters share a kiss in the film and they won the MTV Movie Award for best kiss the year after the film's release.
But to celebrate 20 years of their win, Sarah shared a snap from the event, and added: "Since I will have to stay six feet away from you today (and wear a mask) this will be as close as I get to giving you a birthday kiss."
She later revealed that they had met in person and posted a sweet snap of Selma kissing her through her mask.
Selma, 48, was diagnosed with MS in 2018 and admitted she cried with relief after years of uncertainty.
Selma believes she has been in the early stages of MS for the past 15 years, but was only taken seriously by doctors recently.
She said: "They weren't tears of panic, they were tears of knowing I had to give in to a body that had loss of control.
"And there was some relief in that."
MS is an incurable, life-long neurological condition where the immune system attacks the body and causes nerve damage to the brain and spinal cord.
It causes vision, balance and muscle problems and is usually diagnosed in people in their 20s and 30s.
