Anthea Turner impressed Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins viewers as she appeared to be one of the strongest contenders at the start of the competition. The 59-year-old was the oldest recruit ever to join the Channel 4 series and outlasted Katie Price who is 18 years her junior. However, Special Forces officer Matthew ‘Ollie’ Ollerton has revealed he was pleased when Anthea handed her badge in as he felt “guilty” ordering her around.

Anthea became the second celebrity to quit the Channel 4 show when she handed her number to chief instructor Ant Middleton after a 5km sprint.
The contestants were tasked with sprinting 5km while armed with a full backpack the size of a small teenager.
The 59-year-old drifted to the back of the group and felt it was the right decision for the team to hand her number in.
In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Ollie explained why he was glad she handed her number in when she did.

“There were a few that took me by surprise this time, especially with the likes of Anthea Turner, took me by surprise in the sense, what the f**k is she doing there?” Ollie revealed.
“I felt so guilty about that one,” he said. “I felt I should be having a cream tea with her and having a chat about life with her.
“It’s quite funny because a lot of these names I was brought up with before we came to light.
“These were people we saw on the telly and now we’re actually beasting these people and they’re answerable to us and do exactly as we say, it’s hilarious.”
“But you had the likes of Anthea Turner, she did so well,” Ollie continued. “We were sad to see her go but we weren’t comfortable taking her any further.
“We just felt like we were bullies,” the Special Forces officer added.
Ollie revealed why celebrity recruits find the show so emotional and praised those that are brave enough to sign up.
He explained: “When they come along, they’re pushed into very unfamiliar circumstances, circumstances that they can’t control.
“First of all, what they have to learn is to hand over that total control, they have to surrender to us and allow the process to take them along.

“The people that can’t do that, and want to try and think that they can design the perfect outcomes that make them look good, which they’re used to doing that doesn’t work anymore.”
“The ego has been removed out the way,” Ollie continued. “They’re really they’re in such a state of anxiety, not knowing what’s going on, being pushed to their absolute mental and physical limit.
“They’re in a state of fear and really from that point their thoughts and reactions and feelings and everything become extremely organic.”
The SAS star explained: “You imagine for a celebrity, they’ve been so used to creating this person that everyone from the outside looking in, thinks it’s them, it’s not truly them.

“So what happens on the show and that’s why you see a lot of emotions, is these people get broken down to the raw characters, stripped right back.
“And I do commend every celebrity that comes on that show for doing you know, taking the leap, because they know that’s going to happen.”
“They see how they react to situations, they see how they deal with other people and it’s a real eye-opener for themselves to actually understand who the hell they are,” he added.
Ollie spoke to Express.co.uk to discuss his latest book, Battle Ready and revealed: “The book is a real call to action for people to change and put some discipline in their life. To make lifelong changes that are going to affect the rest of their lives.
“It’s designed from a period of isolation in my life where I put myself away for two months, built some disciplines into my life which I carry onto this day and I’m sharing that with people.”
Battle Ready from the Sunday Times Bestselling author and ex-special forces solider, Ollie Ollerton is available now.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
