Storm Huntley hit out at commentator, Dan Wootton, for using Nicola Sturgeon as an example of women “failing” to stop the spread of the coronavirus. She noted that four out of the top 10 countries battling coronavirus are run by women. She went on to explain that only seven percent of the world’s leaders are women.
Speaking on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine show, Ms Huntley said: “Dan said it was sexist comment to say that woman are doing better than men.
“Statiscally Dan, I know you like your stats, it’s not.
“If you think about it, the top 10 countries who have done the best in this crisis, four of which are lead by women.
“It sounds like they’re not doing as good but when you think only seven percent of the world’s leaders are women.
“Statistically, it is incredibly significant.
“It’s not at all sexist.”
Mr Wootton added: “I will absolutely give you that, Storm.
“Internationally, I agree. But we’ve just heard from that caller that Nicola Sturgeon is eloquent so she is doing a better job.
“Surely the death toll being higher and the testing capacity being a quarter of England is a failure.”
Ms Huntley added: But Dan you can’t compare global statistics with one person.”
