Spandau Ballet are following in Bros’ footsteps by making a one-off mockumentary called The Kemps: All True for BBC – The Sun
THE 2018 BROS documentary was a brilliant surprise, with incredible one-liners and zero self-awareness from Matt and Luke Goss.
Now more pop brothers are having a go. Sort of.
The Beeb is making a mockumentary with Martin and Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet.
In The Kemps: All True, comedian Rhys Thomas will grill the pair and follow their passions outside music, as Martin unveils a film franchise and Gary plans a vegan meat-substitute called Wonge.
Martin joked: “After being known as Roman Kemp’s dad for a few months, I’m really happy to be getting back in the limelight and being known for being that one from Spandau Ballet who hit someone over the head with an ashtray in EastEnders, as well as spending some time with my brothers, Gary and Ross.”
Gary added: “I’m thrilled the BBC is making this probing documentary into the lives of my brother and me.
"Great to be in the delicate yet bloodstained hands of the wonderful Rhys Thomas.
“Anyone who knows Rhys’s work can expect more probing than usual. Our lawyers await.”
As part of Eighties giants Spandau Ballet, the pair have sold 25million albums, while hit single True was given a gong in 2011 for being one of the most-played songs in American history.
And they’ll be joined by a great cast for the show.
I’m told Line of Duty duo Daniel Mays and Anna Maxwell Martin, former Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston and The Fast Show’s Simon Day will all feature.
Snatch actor Alan Ford and After Life’s Tony Way are also signed up.
I hope this project lives up to the hype and its amazing cast.
