Spoilers: Linda attends an alcohol support session in EastEnders tonight
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) left her family in complete and utter shock in EastEnders earlier this week, when her incessant drinking endangered Ollie’s life, and thus — determined to do something about it — Shirley (Linda Henry) ordered her daughter-in-law to attend an alcohol support session — something which she agrees to and goes through with during tonight’s episode.
Linda’s reliance on the booze has been a constant source of conflict for the Carter clan, as Mick (Danny Dyer), Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and Shirley have attempted to support her during her tough time, but her refusal to stop drinking has forced the family into taking drastic action on a number of occasions.
After Ollie was left in a dangerous situation on Monday, Shirley resolved to do something about it and thus ordered Linda to attend therapy.
During Tuesday’s episode, Linda agreed to do just that, but only if Mick went with her to the support session, and — wanting to help his beloved wife get better — he resolved to do so.
However, Linda was unable to enter the community centre when she saw Stuart (Ricky Champ) inside, and — understanding where she was coming from given the history — Mick decided against making her attend, but informed her that she must return the following day.
During tonight’s episode, Linda attends the support session with Shirley in tow, and she struggles greatly as a result. She breaks down — much to Shirley’s surprise — and as they head home, Shirley encourages Mick to prioritise Ollie.
However, Linda overhears Shirley’s comments and is less than pleased, and therefore she resorts to drink once more, but when Mick tries to stop her, she explodes and ends up ruining Ollie’s drawings in the process.
An emotional Linda then reveals that she thinks Mick and Shirley are plotting against her.
Will Mick be able to convince her otherwise?
EastEnders continues Thursday 6 February at 7:30pm on BBC One.
