Spoilers: Phil threatens to kill Sharon as Ben makes a discovery in EastEnders

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) was left enraged in EastEnders when he discovered that Sharon (Letitia Dean) had been lying to him once again, and thus he resolved to find out if there was any truth to Lisa Fowler’s (Lucy Benjamin) claims about his wife’s baby not being his. During tonight’s episode, he did some investigating, and jumped to the wrong conclusion — and it’s one that could have life-changing ramifications as a result.

After Lisa admitted there was no truth to her claims and that she’d simply made up lies in order to get revenge on Sharon after Mel’s (Tamzin Outhwaite) death, Phil was on cloud nine once more. Yes, Louise (Tilly Keeper) had given birth, baby Peggy was doing well, and his doubts about the paternity of the baby had finally been laid to rest.

However, once he came to realise that Sharon had lied about her whereabouts on the night Louise gave birth, his mind started to conjure up all sorts of theories once more.

As last night’s episode came to an end, Phil relayed his fears to Ben (Max Bowden), and during tonight’s episode, he summoned his son to come and pay him a visit.

Ben was still unconvinced by Phil’s claims, but he did some more investigative work and managed to hack into Sharon’s accounts, where he discovered that — not only did Sharon fork out a fortune for Mel’s funeral — but she’d also purchased a villa in Portugal in Mel’s name.

Having worked out that Mel was blackmailing Sharon, Phil became irate and — in a moment of anger — broke the laptop.

Now believing his dad, Ben continued to dig, and thus paid Jack (Scott Maslen) — aka the man who Phil believes is the father of Sharon’s baby — a visit. While Jack tended to his sick child, Ben looked around, and discovered Sharon’s necklace sitting on the table, and thus put two and two together.

However, viewers know that — on the day Linda (Kellie Bright) was due in the magistrate’s court for driving under the influence — Sharon gave her a loan of said necklace. Furthermore, Linda was staying at Max’s (Jake Wood) — and Jack’s — house during this particular week, as the Wife Swap was underway, therefore it was Linda who left the necklace there, not Sharon.

Ben thought long and hard about his next move but, in the end, he ultimately relayed his discovery to Phil. The Mitchell hardman was fuming and threatened to kill not only Jack, but also Sharon — before revealing that he wants Ben to help him do it.

The question is: will he follow through with his threats?

Sharon is the love of his life — and she’s also pregnant — so surely he’s not going to attempt to murder her?

Jack, on the other hand, he has clashed with many a time before, so — in spite of him being a copper — Phil will no doubt seek revenge on him.

However, with Ben having promised boyfriend Callum (Tony Clay) that he’d leave his life of crime in the past, will he carry out his dad’s request and help him?
