Spoilers: Whitney is arrested for Leo's murder in EastEnders
Following his brutal death during a showdown with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), Leo King (Tom Wells) could be set to haunt her from beyond the grave as her nightmare in EastEnders is just beginning. Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) is stunned to discover that Leo is dead and that Whitney has been arrested.
Fans know that Whitney acted in self defence and, after Leo was killed in the struggle, Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) stepped in to help Whitney and she travelled with him and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) by taxi to the boat party. But whether the police will believe her is another matter.
Leo had been stalking Whitney and their very public showdowns, no-one could deny the hate that existed between them. But with it seeming like the police may consider that Whitney deliberately killed him as an act of revenge rather than self protection, Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) is worried and asks Gray (Toby Alexander-Smith) to defend the case.
Considering he knew Leo, Gray is initially reluctant to take on the case but soon finds himself accepting and he feels the pressure to give Whitney the right advice. As the stress starts to take its toll, Chantelle is worried when her violent husband snaps at Mackenzie and Mia.
Later, as a police interview leaves Whitney exasperated, she argues that she acted in self defence but becomes visibly angry when she is doubted. And soon, Gray is suspicious of Whitney and asks her if she called anyone after she killed Leo – and she lies about calling Mick.
Gray then learns that she got the taxi to the ill fated boat party and he finds it questionable as to why she would attend a party right after a deadly showdown.
Is Gray about to back out of defending Whitney – and could she be going down?
One to watch: Monday 24 February at 8pm on BBC One.
