Spoilers: Who dies in brutal Emmerdale murder storyline?

An Emmerdale character is set to be murdered in a shocking new storyline later in the year – but who is set to die as the time is up on one local?

ITV’s Head of Soaps and Drama John Whiston dropped the bombshell that the deadly twist was incoming when he appeared on Sky News to discuss the difficulties of social distancing filming.

He referred in particular to kissing and murder storylines which would be difficult to do with the guidelines in place – before letting slip that there was a death coming up which they would have to work around.

He stated: ‘In terms of all of the normal stuff that goes on in soaps people kissing each other or murdering each other, we’ll have to socially distance murders I think.

‘And we did actually have one coming up in Emmerdale quite soon.’

Emmerdale’s executive producer Jane Hudson also seems to have hinted at the plot although she stopped herself at clarifying that it was related to a murder.

She told Metro.co.uk: ‘We have lots of looks of intent. Edging towards stairs. Arriving back with shirts tucked in. Fights replaced with menace. Things picked up in a menacing ways.

‘We’re finding ways to do it. Some stories we might hold back a little but we have got a storyline coming up – we’re too far in to change it.

‘It’s going to challenge how we make it work but it’s our job to make it work. It’s our most challenging area that’s for sure.’

Of course, theories are now doing the rounds, with the most prominent being DI Malone’s (Mark Womack) war with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) could be about to reach new heights.

Will the corrupt cop resort to murder – or will one of his many enemies seek to silence him for good?

Of course, this is all speculative at this stage and any upcoming death could be related to any character group.
