Strictly star Krishnan Guru-Murthys doctors warn he could drop dead mid-performance
Strictly Come Dancing star Krishnan Guru-Murthy has warned that he could "drop dead" mid-performance, just days before the show kicks off.
The 53 year old has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is an illness that has already caused two of his cousins to die early.
Ahead of the series launching on Saturday, 16 September, Krishnan has explained that he needs to keep his heart rate below 140.
With that in mind, the Channel 4 newsreader believes that out of all of the dances on offer during the series will be the Charleston.

Speaking to The Mirror, Krishnan explained: "The Charleston will be a challenge, but we’ll see. I mean, my cardiologist basically said 'I can’t give you a hundred per cent guarantee that you won’t drop dead'."
Krishnan agreed to do the award winning programme this year, despite turning it down on a number of occasions before due to the news being such a bleak place in recent years due to the war in Ukraine, and the Coronavirus pandemic.
However, he did explain why now is the right time for him to take part: "It’s all quite stressful, so the idea of actually having an outlet for pure pleasure, joy and fun, where you totally take your mind off the news, was a huge opportunity in a way that I’d never realised before."
He also added that he told himself that he was an idiot for saying no, as it is a privilege to be asked on the programme.
However, he has also said that he doesn't believe that his interviewees will see him as a soft touch when speaking to him after being a part of the show.
He has also told OK! that people will get to see the real him as the series progresses.
Krishnan said: "Yesterday, I was learning a dance, and then I did the news and grilled a cabinet minister.
"On Strictly, people will see more of the real me."
