Strictly’s Angela Scanlon was mortified after her X-rated joke backfired as she discussed the show-stopping outfit she will be wearing this week.

Over the past few weeks, BBC fans have been falling in love with the Irish beauty as she continues to steal the show with her jaw-dropping performances alongside her professional dance partner Carlos Gu. And it appears this week will be no different when the dancing duo revealed their upcoming number on It Takes Two.

On Thursday night (October 12) the pair joined Janette Manrara on the sparkly sofa where they revealed they will be performing the Viennese Waltz to You Are The Reason by Calum Scott and Leona Lewis. And that wasn’t all they shared, as the former pro dancer welcomed the head of the wardrobe department Vicky onto the show to reveal her costume to her in advance.

The TV presenter is set to take to the stage in a bright green co-ord which features a bedazzled tom and an equally dramatic skirt. But one thing she didn’t expect was the surprise pink underskirt which will be revealed when she kicks her leg in the air.

It was at this point that the broadcaster couldn't help but crack a joke at the jaw-dropping ensemble she will be wearing this week. As the stylist discussed the already incredible down, she emphasised that the dress will look more dark green on the night.

She explained: "There will be more navy blue layered over the green so it won't look so bright on the night. So this side skirt might not necessarily star but what will hopefully happen is we'll go from blue into turquoise into pink."

It was at this point that she flashed the neon pink underskirt which fans would only see a glimpse of during the performance. As Angela held a hand on Janette's shoulder, she said: "Did you see that pink? Ooh I did not expect that! That's a bit of a surprise isn't it?"

Vicky reassured her: "It may be something as simple as just a circle skirt but it won't be entirely green." Angela gushed: "I love it, and the theme is, we're in the woods, it's warm and romantic and then you just flash a bit of pink!"

The auburn beauty quickly took back the embarrassing comment as she muttered "I'm so sorry" under her breath as she hid behind Janette and giggled uncontrollably. Host Janette attempted to move on from the racy joke by simply throwing an awkward look to the camera as Angela and the wardrobe expert chuckled together.

She sternly told Angela "You're going to look fabulous," before she turned to her colleague and wrapped up the embarrassing segment. She added: "Let's let Vicky get back to work, let's hear it for the amazing Vicky from wardrobe."

It comes after fans joked that the star had been replaced by a Hollywood actress during Movie Week as they poked fun at her terrible ginger wig. For the star-studded night, the pair performed a Charleston to Who's Got The Pain from the 1955 film Damn Yankees.

Viewers compared her to award-winning actress Julie Andrews and internet personality Charity Shop Sue. After watching the hilarious performance, which soared them to the top of the leaderboard with an impressive 35 points, the TV presenter received a good luck message from the social media star online.

She said: "Oh you did amazing on Saturday didn't you Angela? You looked powerful, sophisticated, athletic – you looked just like me! Good luck for Saturday gal, I'm rooting for ya." Fans will need to stay tuned to see if she can top the leaderboard again this week.
